Discover Egypt 2026 Draws More Than 100,000 Visitors to Celebrate Egyptian Heritage in Mississauga

Mississauga, ON – July 3, 2026

The 8th Annual Discover Egypt Festival, presented by the Canadian Egyptian Heritage Association (CEHA), concluded with resounding success after welcoming more than 100,000 visitors over two days, further cementing its reputation as one of the largest Egyptian cultural festivals in North America.

Held in Mississauga, the festival transformed Celebration Square into a vibrant showcase of Egyptian culture, featuring internationally acclaimed performers, traditional dance, authentic cuisine, cultural exhibits, artisan vendors, and family-friendly programming. One of the festival’s signature attractions was a spectacular inflatable replica of the Temple of Philae, accompanied by an immersive light-and-sound presentation that brought the history and grandeur of ancient Egypt to life.

This year’s festival was highlighted by electrifying performances from Egyptian artists WEGZ and Esaf, who travelled from Egypt to headline the celebration, captivating audiences throughout the weekend.

The continued growth of Discover Egypt reflects CEHA’s commitment to promoting Egyptian heritage while strengthening multiculturalism and community engagement across Canada.

“The overwhelming response to this year’s festival demonstrates how meaningful cultural celebrations are in bringing communities together,” said Hany Shenouda, Board Member of the Canadian Egyptian Heritage Association. “Discover Egypt has become much more than a festival—it is a celebration of identity, heritage, and inclusion. Seeing families from every background experience Egyptian culture together is incredibly rewarding, and we are grateful to our volunteers, sponsors, government partners, and the entire community for making this year’s event such an outstanding success.”

The success of Discover Egypt 2026 was supported through substantial combined municipal, provincial and federal government funding, helping expand programming, accessibility, and cultural experiences for attendees.

The funding was secured through the collaborative efforts of GTA Strategies, which worked alongside CEHA to identify funding opportunities, prepare successful applications, and strengthen government partnerships, making this year’s festival possible.

“Supporting organizations like CEHA is about investing in communities and ensuring cultural stories continue to be shared for future generations,” said Jeremy Beamer, Principal of GTA Strategies. “We were proud to work closely with CEHA to secure federal funding that helped elevate Discover Egypt 2026 into one of the premier multicultural festivals in Canada. The tremendous attendance and community impact speak to the importance of these investments.”

CEHA extended its appreciation to its volunteers, sponsors, artists, performers, community partners, elected officials, and the thousands of attendees whose participation made Discover Egypt 2026 an extraordinary celebration of Egyptian heritage and Canadian multiculturalism.
