Secures Federal Funding to Advance Food Security and Cultural Inclusion in the GTA
Toronto, ON — April 6, 2026 — One Love Family Services, a Toronto-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing food insecurity with dignity and cultural awareness, is proud to announce it has been awarded $20,000 in federal funding through the Government of Canada’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program (Events Component).
The funding will support the organization’s upcoming Ramadan Interfaith and Intercultural Celebration, an initiative designed to bring together diverse communities across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) while promoting inclusion, understanding, and shared cultural experiences.
Founded on the principle that “love has no barriers,” One Love Family Services currently supports more than 650 families each month through culturally appropriate food hampers and accessible delivery services.
Leadership Perspective
“This funding is more than just financial support—it’s a recognition of the importance of culturally respectful food access and community connection,” said Habeeb Ali, Executive Director of One Love Family Services. “Our Ramadan initiative will create meaningful opportunities for people of all backgrounds to come together, share experiences, and strengthen the social fabric of our communities. We are deeply grateful to the Government of Canada for believing in our mission.”
Strategic Support
The organization also acknowledged the critical role played by GTA Strategies, whose strategic guidance and advocacy were instrumental in securing the federal funding.
“GTA Strategies provided invaluable expertise throughout the application process,” added Ali. “Their insight and support helped position our work in a way that aligned with federal priorities around multiculturalism and anti-racism.”
Community Voice
“This investment speaks volumes about the importance of grassroots organizations that are making a real difference on the ground,” said Jim Karygiannis. “One Love Family Services continues to lead with compassion and cultural understanding, and this funding will only strengthen their impact across the GTA.”
Looking Ahead
With this new funding, One Love Family Services aims to expand its reach, deepen community partnerships, and continue delivering inclusive programming that addresses both immediate needs and long-term community resilience.
