The Ministry is proposing amendments to the Ontario Building Code related to Rapid Transit Stations, specifically Section 3.13. These changes aim to support faster construction of transit stations across the province and align with the Government’s priorities of building better transit infrastructure.
One key proposal includes adding Sentence 3.13.5.7.(2), which would allow an emergency power supply for the entire rapid transit station, providing a dual redundant separate feed from a regulated electricity distributor.
The Ministry is seeking feedback on these proposed changes. Comments can be submitted until November 20, 2025.
We encourage your organization to review the proposal and share your insights. Your feedback is valuable in shaping regulations that impact the construction industry and transit development.
