It is with profound sadness that I am writing this email.
On behalf of GTA Strategies, I want to extend our condolences to the friends and families of who lost loved ones at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival on the weekend. I also wish to extend our prayers to those who were injured and wish them a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are also with all those who were at the Festival as you deal with the horrific events of that day.
While the use of a vehicle as a weapon is a rare occurrence in Canada, it is becoming more common in Canada and around the world.
For the past five years, GTA Strategies has been working with local communities helping the secure grants for their community events and festivals. In light of recent events, we believe that governments at all levels, should provide funding to help address security measures at these events.
I am reaching out to you to ask for your thoughts and support as we petition the federal, provincial and municipal governments to financially support security measures for community and cultural festivals. These security measures would include the use of off-duty police officers, the installation of Jersey Barriers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_barrier) and other security measures which are deemed necessary.
GTA Strategies will be making representations at all levels of government and are asking for your thoughts and comments which will be included in our requests to the elected officials.
I look forward to receiving your thoughts and comments. You can reach us by email at info@gtastrategies.com or by phone at (888) 241 9948 ext 1. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
