07 Feb Urgent – Interprovincial Trade
Toronto – Dear Friend
The everlasting saga of the imposition of the proposed United States of America’s tariffs is playing havoc with our nation’s industry and our daily lives. The tariffs were to come into effect on Tuesday, February 4th. They have now been postponed for thirty days.
Several scenarios are being discussed to help mitigate this tariff risks, such as developing and promoting Canadian trade with other countries and buying Canadian – made goods and products. An additional scenario, which has been discussed on and off over the years, is that of interprovincial trade.
For almost 3 years, GTA Strategies has been involved with Ontario meat and poultry producers and processors to realize interprovincial trade. We were able to negotiate a pilot program in which some meat processors will be able to move forward and participate in an interprovincial trade.
Given current events, GTA Strategies believes that it is time that Canadians and their governments must take down all interprovincial trade barriers and make interprovincial trade a reality. It is time our governments to stop face the beating around the bush. This will take an all-of-government effort so that we will all be singing from the same hymn book.
Over the next few days, GTA Strategies will be engaging Federal Government staff and the Provincial Premiers, together with their key government staff, to help make interprovincial trade a reality.
Enough talk – let’s bring interprovincial barriers down now.
Should you wish to add your voice to this initiative and/or have any suggestions, I welcome them.
