Trump’s Tariffs

Toronto – Dear Friend:

We are fast approaching the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America and his threat of the imposition of a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods entering the US.

This move can send our economy on a tail spin and present all kind of difficulties to all sectors of the economy and especially to your industry.

On January 15, 2025, our governments, federal, provincial and territorial, met and developed a strong, national response to the impending Trump tariff – no one region or sector will bear the brunt of a potential 25% tariff imposed by the United States. 

As our governments work together to develop plans to meet this unprecedented challenge, GTA Strategies will continue to monitor the situation and advise you of any specific programs (grants, special measures) which may be developed in order to assist your sector.

Should you have any suggestions as to what and how things should be done and what your industry needs to face these tarrifs please let us know.

We will also pass on, to the appropriate Ministers, your suggestions with respect to mitigating the effect of these tariffs.
