Toronto Last week, former Scarborough MP Hon. Jim Karygiannis was in attendance at the grand opening of the ANAM Foundation’s new location in Cedarbrook Community Centre.

The Association of North American Muslims Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women through a number of services including shelters, legal advice, training and educational programs and advocacy work.

Karygiannis, now a principal at business and government relations firm GTA Strategies, was invited to cut the ribbon at the event. “As the father of five daughters, and with four additional granddaughters, women’s issues have been top of mind for me since before I was ever elected. Being able to support organizations like the ANAM Foundation has always been important to me, and I hope to attend events like this for years to come.”

“Jim has been a champion for our community for decades, and we couldn’t be happier that he was able to be here for our opening”, commented ANAM Foundation Executive Director Rafath Mumtaz. “We look forward to working with Jim and his team to grow our organization, and to give the people who come to us the assistance they need.”
